Vehicle Technician

Overview

A Vehicle Technician is tasked with diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining automotive systems effectively. This entails utilizing computerized diagnostic devices to detect mechanical and electrical faults, performing standard preventive maintenance such as oil changes and brake servicing, replacing malfunctioning components, and road-testing vehicles to ensure optimal functionality.

Primary Responsibilities

• Utilize specialized diagnostic scanners to identify issues related to the engine, transmission, steering, and electrical systems.
• Carry out routine servicing activities including fluid replacements and filter changes to enhance vehicle longevity.
• Dismantle, repair, or substitute defective mechanical parts such as brake pads, suspension components, and sensors.
• Accurately document all work completed through detailed job cards and service records.
• Communicate technical issues and potential repair costs clearly to service advisors or customers.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Possess formal education credentials such as an ITI certificate, Diploma, Associate Degree, or equivalent vocational certifications like ASE.
• Have relevant experience ranging from entry-level up to three years within authorized dealerships or independent repair workshops.
• Demonstrate mechanical skills with strong hand-eye coordination and the physical ability to handle heavy automotive equipment.
• Possess a sound understanding of vehicle computer systems and diagnostic procedures.
