Role Overview
This part-time remote position is for a UX/UI Designer responsible for developing user-centric interfaces for web and mobile platforms associated with departmental projects, research initiatives, and academic programs. The role requires conducting fundamental user research, mapping user journeys, creating wireframes and interactive prototypes, and working closely with faculty, students, and developers to clarify and enhance design requirements.
The designer will deliver refined visual designs emphasizing accessibility and usability, iteratively improving them by incorporating feedback and testing results. Additionally, they will document design decisions and maintain cohesive design systems or style guides to ensure consistent user experiences across multiple digital touchpoints.
Qualifications
- Proficient in User Experience design, specifically user flow development, information architecture, and interaction design principles.
- Skilled in User Interface and Visual Design to produce clear, consistent, and accessible interface layouts.
- Experienced in creating polished wireframes, mockups, and prototypes using contemporary design software.
- Basic understanding of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to facilitate effective collaboration with development teams.
- Knowledgeable in responsive design, mobile-first approaches, and best practices for accessibility.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills supporting a systematic approach to feedback incorporation and design iteration.
- Prior involvement in designing for education, research, or data-centric applications is beneficial.
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience is required.
