User Experience Designer

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced User Experience Designer to join a team focused on crafting innovative AI-powered conversational shopping experiences. This 12-month temporary remote opportunity involves designing how customers find, assess, and buy products via chat-driven interactions. The candidate will leverage an established design system to build seamless end-to-end experiences aligned with a broader retail ecosystem. Remote work is required within 180 miles of Phoenix, Dallas, Chicago, or Atlanta.

Key Responsibilities

• Create comprehensive conversational shopping designs enabling product discovery, comparison, and purchase using AI chat interactions.
• Develop user flows, interaction models, wireframes, high-fidelity visuals, and clickable prototypes using Figma design system.
• Design both optimal and fallback customer journey scenarios for robust user experience.
• Construct journey maps, service blueprints, and concepts illustrating full customer pathways across conversational touchpoints.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, UX researchers, engineers, content designers, and other designers to ensure cohesive experiences.
• Ensure all conversational experiences align with product strategy, design standards, and customer experience principles.
• Translate business goals and customer data into reusable interaction patterns suited for AI-powered shopping.
• Iterate designs based on stakeholder feedback, usability tests, and ever-changing product requirements.

Required Qualifications

• At least 5 years of UX or product design experience, preferably in retail, e-commerce, or shopping platforms.
• Strong portfolio showcasing design of end-to-end customer journeys and complex interactions.
• Experience designing conversational, AI-driven, or chat-based user interfaces.
• In-depth knowledge of retail customer behaviors and shopping decision processes.
• Proficient with Figma including use of component libraries, prototyping, and design system management.
• Demonstrated ability to create user flows, journey maps, service blueprints, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes.
• Strong systems thinking aptitude to design interconnected user experiences.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills within cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in AI-assisted or generative AI products.
• Experience with conversational UX, virtual assistants, or intelligent product discovery solutions.
• Familiarity with mature enterprise design systems.
• Knowledge of strategic design, future-state visioning, and service design approaches.

Additional Information

The role offers a pay rate between $60 and $65 per hour, subject to client, experience, and location factors. Benefits available for full-time employees include medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401k, and commuter benefits.

This position is a 12-month contract with possibility to extend or convert to full-time (W2 with benefits). The work is remote but candidates must reside within 180 miles of Phoenix, Dallas, Chicago, or Atlanta.
