Transport Supervisor

About the role

A transport company focused on dependable and efficient supply chain services is looking for a Transport Supervisor to manage daily transport activities and make sure vehicles, drivers, port clerks, and related resources are deployed effectively. This position is based in Nairobi County, Kenya and reports to the Transport Manager in the Operations department.

The role is centered on maintaining strong service quality, meeting regulatory obligations, supporting safety, and helping the team achieve operational targets.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee everyday transport activity so services are delivered safely, efficiently, and on time.
• Plan vehicle movements, route allocation, and driver rosters to improve fleet use.
• Track vehicle activity and quickly address issues that could interrupt service.
• Confirm that vehicles remain fit for the road and that maintenance plans are followed.
• Manage drivers and port clerks while ensuring compliance with company rules, SOPs, and traffic laws.
• Carry out daily checks on vehicles and drivers, and keep operational paperwork current and complete.
• Review fuel use, vehicle condition, and operating expenses, then escalate any unusual variances to the Transport Manager.
• Look into operational incidents, accidents, and client complaints, and suggest corrective measures.
• Keep accurate transport records and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
• Encourage a strong safety mindset by ensuring health, safety, and environmental requirements are met.
• Coach and support drivers and clerks on the job to improve performance.
• Work with internal teams and customers to support smooth service delivery.
• Handle any other related duties assigned by the Transport Manager.

Requirements

• A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Transport Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or a related discipline.
• Between 3 and 5 years of experience in transport, fleet, or logistics operations.
• At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
• Practical knowledge of transport operations, fleet administration, and road safety rules.
• Strong customer service and stakeholder management capability.
• Confident leadership, coordination, planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Comfort working under pressure and managing several priorities at once.
• Microsoft Office skills; familiarity with transport management systems is an advantage.
• High integrity, accountability, and careful attention to detail.
