Transport Planner

About the Role

Our client, a reputable transport and logistics company situated in Leeds (postcode LS10), is currently seeking a Transport Planner / Transport Operator to join their expanding team. This full-time position offers a permanent contract and involves working as an integral member of the transport team in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting the transport planning team in meeting daily delivery and operational goals.
• Assisting with planning and communication efforts between drivers and operations.
• Monitoring vehicle movements and making prompt operational decisions to address delays or disruptions.
• Analyzing operational data to recognize trends and contribute to ongoing improvements.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and drivers to ensure high standards of customer service.
• Keeping accurate records and generating reports utilizing transport management systems and Microsoft Office tools.
• Using systems such as TOPS, Vehicle Booking Systems (VBS), Excel, and Word effectively.
• Demonstrating company values like honesty, transparency, and teamwork throughout daily operations.

Work Schedule

• Ten-hour shifts including one hour unpaid lunch break.
• Working hours between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
• Shift hours may vary to meet operational demands and cover requirements.

Candidate Profile

• Previous background in transport planning, transport operations, or logistics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient IT skills, familiar with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new systems.
• Organized with great attention to detail.
• Capable of working under pressure and managing multiple priorities.
• Customer-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to solving problems.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with the TOPS container transport system.
• Experience using various Vehicle Booking Systems.
• Background in container haulage or working within a container transport setting.

Additional Information

• Location: Leeds, LS10, England, United Kingdom.
• Salary Range: £29,742 to £38,500 per annum, depending on experience.
• Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent, Onsite.
