About the Role
QubePlast Pvt. Ltd. is seeking an experienced Tool Room Head to oversee and manage all operations of the Tool Room within its plastic injection moulding facility located in Sonipat, Haryana. This leadership position reports directly to the Plant Head / Operations Head and is vital for ensuring minimal production downtime through efficient mould maintenance and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and lead the entire Tool Room operations and manage the Tool Room team effectively.
- Plan and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for injection moulds.
- Ensure moulds are available punctually according to production schedules.
- Supervise mould assembly, trials, modifications, repairs, polishing, and servicing activities.
- Track mould performance to extend mould life through continuous improvements.
- Analyze recurring mould failures and execute root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Coordinate the development of new moulds, mould trials, and handover processes to production.
- Maintain accurate records such as mould history cards and maintenance logs.
- Organize manpower allocation, machinery utilization, and daily operational tasks in the Tool Room.
- Manage inventory of consumables, spare parts, and critical components for the Tool Room.
- Liaise with external vendors for mould manufacturing, repairs, texturing, heat treatment, and spare procurement.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety protocols, and 5S methodologies.
- Lead cost reduction initiatives, enhance productivity, and promote continuous improvements.
- Support the Production and Quality teams in resolving tooling-related issues.
- Mentor and train Tool Room technicians and operators for skill enhancement.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die Making, or Plastic Engineering (Diploma / B.Tech / B.E.).
- Certifications such as NTTF, CIPET, or GTTC are advantageous.
- Extensive knowledge of plastic injection moulds and mould maintenance including Hot Runner and Cold Runner systems.
- Proficient in handling CNC, VMC, EDM, Wire Cut, Milling, Grinding, Lathe, and other Tool Room machinery.
- Ability to interpret engineering and mould drawings along with GD&T.
- Understanding of mould materials, cooling methods, ejector and core systems, sliders, lifters.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective leadership, planning, and team management skills.
- Familiarity with TPM, 5S, Kaizen, and preventive maintenance techniques.
- Basic computer proficiency for reporting and documentation.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years in plastic injection moulding Tool Room operations.
- At least 3 to 5 years in a senior position such as Tool Room Head or Incharge with leadership responsibilities.
- Experience with rigid plastic packaging products like bottles, jars, caps, closures, and containers is preferred.
