About the Role
This position focuses on driving insurance business growth through key relationships within the HDFC Bank Branch Banking network across an assigned area. The manager will guide a team and collaborate closely with both Birla Sun Life Insurance and HDFC Bank stakeholders to boost sales, enhance customer experience, and maintain business persistency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead insurance sales by building strong ties with HDFC branch partners and ensuring their teams are equipped to present Birla Sun Life Insurance solutions to clients.
- Oversee a team of 10-11 members, tailoring support and communication based on the branches under management.
- Deliver individual and vertical sales targets, aiming for an annualized premium between 5–10 Cr, and ensure relationships’ top-line targets are met or exceeded.
- Maintain high standards to achieve zero customer complaints and ensure 80% premium and policy persistency, with active management of renewal processes.
- Balance company processes and the channel partners’ expectations, ensuring seamless onboarding and ongoing service delivery for customers.
- Develop branch-level activities to drive deeper customer engagement and product penetration across the network.
- Regularly communicate process changes, product training, and updates to internal teams and channel partners.
- Identify and implement innovative business acquisition methods and review team performance to ensure activation and quality benchmarks are reached.
Major Challenges
- Managing market volatility, especially due to the focus on unit-linked insurance products.
- Aligning goals and processes between company policies and the priorities of HDFC’s branch banking teams.
- Adapting to open architecture models where different branches may have varying priorities.
Internal & External Relationships
- Work closely with support executives, trainers, HR, and issuance coordinators for operational efficiency.
- Engage daily with relationship managers and external partners to troubleshoot, support business development, and provide smooth policy issuance and service coordination.
Additional Information
- The role requires continuous review of business performance, contributing new ideas for sales pitch and product innovation, and identifying training needs across both in-house and partner teams.
- Direct communication with customers via welcome calls and timely resolution of policy-related inquiries is essential to maintain persistency benchmarks.
