Textile Engineer (Saree Construction & Weaving Technology)

Role Overview

Onliest LLC is hiring a Textile Engineer in Visakhapatnam to work on saree construction and weaving technology. This role is ideal for someone with strong expertise in weaving structures, saree architecture, and loom-based design systems who can turn technical concepts into production-ready designs. The position requires both engineering depth and hands-on manufacturing experience to help create saree designs that are scalable, repeatable, and suitable for modern as well as traditional weaving methods.

Responsibilities

• Develop weaving logic for sarees, covering the body, border, and blouse sections.
• Create modular saree structures that can be repeated and scaled across designs.
• Convert creative concepts into loom-ready outputs using CAD and jacquard programming.
• Study warp and weft behavior to achieve the intended fabric result.
• Plan pick structures for body, border, and blouse zones.
• Assess loom feasibility and choose the right weaving technology for each design.
• Work with weavers, mills, and production teams during sampling and execution.
• Maintain fabric quality, balanced weight distribution, and structural consistency.
• Identify and resolve design and production issues using practical, hands-on experience.

Requirements

• Background in Textile Engineering or Textile Design with strong knowledge of weaving principles and fabric construction.
• Deep understanding of weaving logic, including warp and weft behavior, weave structures, and fabric performance.
• Experience with saree and border construction methods.
• Ability to work with Jacquard, electronic Dobby, and traditional looms, and judge whether a loom is suitable for a given design.
• Hands-on experience with CAD-to-loom translation is mandatory, including NedGraphics, Textronics, and jacquard programming.
• Capability to turn designs into production-ready loom instructions.
• Strong command over warp setup and pick planning, including yarn counts, tension control, and border separation.
• Understanding of how to structure body, border, and blouse sections.
• Knowledge of fabric behavior, material sensitivity, and the balance between weave structure and weight distribution.
• Familiarity with India-specific saree construction systems and practical constraints.
• Ability to develop repeatable design logic and modular saree architecture.
• Proven exposure to working directly with weavers, textile mills, and production teams.
• Practical experience in sampling, production cycles, and diagnosing weaving failures.
• Strong problem-solving ability and the capacity to connect design intent with manufacturing execution.
• Preferred background includes luxury or premium textile design.
