About the Role

We are a New York-based apparel manufacturer focused on creating premium varsity jackets, workwear, and customized apparel solutions. We are looking for a driven and skilled Territory Manager to oversee and expand operations in the Central United States. This role is remote and field-based, ideal for a sales professional who excels in cultivating long-term client partnerships, generating new business leads, and providing clients with innovative apparel options.

Territory Coverage

The assigned region includes Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, and North Dakota. Candidates should be located within or near this territory and prepared for extensive travel across these states.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and expand an existing customer portfolio throughout the Central region.
  • Collaborate closely with the Vice President of Sales to design and implement sales strategies that align with company goals.
  • Identify and cultivate new business prospects through outreach, networking, referrals, and lead generation.
  • Conduct both in-person and virtual client meetings, product demos, and presentations.
  • Develop and maintain strong, lasting customer relationships by delivering exceptional service and continuous account support.
  • Support strategic account management, major sales initiatives, and comprehensive territory planning alongside leadership.
  • Prepare quotes, negotiate terms, and successfully close sales opportunities.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure precise order fulfillment and on-schedule delivery.
  • Achieve sales and profitability targets on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Represent the company at trade exhibitions and industry events to enhance brand presence.
  • Manage travel plans, client appointments, account oversight, and territory growth effectively while monitoring costs.
  • Maintain up-to-date customer records, sales forecasts, and activity logs utilizing CRM software.
  • Provide regular reports to the Vice President of Sales on sales progress, pipeline status, client feedback, market conditions, and competitor insights.
  • Deliver high levels of customer satisfaction through prompt communication, problem-solving, and dedicated account management.
  • Track market shifts, competitor behaviors, and client requirements to uncover new growth prospects.
  • Engage in ongoing sales meetings, coaching, and professional development sessions led by sales leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related discipline preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in outside sales, territory management, or business development, ideally within apparel, wholesale, or a similar sector.
  • Demonstrated success in expanding new business and deepening existing client relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of apparel product lines, merchandising techniques, wholesale processes, and CRM platforms.
  • Capability to work independently, juggle various tasks, and manage time efficiently while traveling across a large territory.
  • Availability for extensive travel (approximately 50-75%, including overnight stays).
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and the Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel by car and airplane as required.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual base salary ranging from $75,000 to $110,000, dependent on experience, qualifications, location, and market factors.
