Role Overview

The Teacher in Charge of Commerce will act as the principal authority for all Commerce-related subjects, assisting the Head of Department in delivering consistently outstanding education across various delivery formats. Responsibilities include teaching, mentoring, and course content development with a focus on adherence to Pearson Edexcel International GCSE and A-Level standards. Reporting lines are to the Principal/Head of Department, with 20 lessons taught out of 22 weekly periods, allowing two for leadership duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction in Commerce courses, including one-on-one tutoring where needed.
• Develop and execute lesson plans aligned with Pearson Edexcel IGCSE and A-Level frameworks.
• Maintain course materials and plans within the Learning Management System (LMS).
• Assist the Head of Department with quality assurance activities including learning walks and standardisation processes.
• Mentor and help orient new and existing Commerce teaching staff.
• Participate in curriculum evaluation, assessment scheduling, and exam readiness efforts.
• Engage in post-exam reviews, student intervention strategies, and monitoring progress.
• Promote digital teaching strategies and facilitate the sharing of best practices.
• Encourage student participation in enrichment activities such as competitions and specialized clubs related to Commerce.

Candidate Profile

• Possess formal teaching qualifications with significant knowledge in Commerce disciplines including Business, Economics, and/or Accounting.
• Well-versed in the Pearson Edexcel IGCSE and A-Level syllabuses, familiar with examiner feedback and grading criteria.
• Comfortable using digital platforms for online instruction and resource management.
• A cooperative team player with the capacity to lead and develop peers.
• Highly organised, data-savvy, and dedicated to maintaining educational quality.
• Exceptional communicator capable of liaising effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
