Role Overview
The Supply Planning Lead for the Vital Protein brand at Nestlé Health Science is responsible for end-to-end supply planning. This critical role ensures product availability aligns with consumer demand by formulating and implementing supply plans that meet service level targets, optimize inventory, and manage obsolete or slow-moving stock. Partnering closely with manufacturing and co-manufacturing sites, the role balances cost efficiency with responsiveness to fluctuating market conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee supply and production planning as well as co-manufacturing and co-packing requirements to ensure cost-effective operations.
- Create supply plans that maximize supply chain efficiency while maintaining service levels and managing inventory within production limits and cost objectives.
- Develop and maintain short-term (within Planning Time Fence) and long-term (up to 18 months rolling) capacity plans, working proactively with factories to resolve capacity constraints.
- Ensure customer delivery and service objectives are met within financial budgets supporting marketing and business goals.
- Make strategic decisions to balance supply requirements across multiple sourcing locations including factories and co-manufacturers.
- Establish and monitor safety stock levels by SKU to achieve customer service goals while minimizing tied-up capital.
- Manage aged or excess inventory costs by monitoring risks, coordinating mitigation with commercial teams, and implementing preventive measures.
- Identify opportunities for salvage selling and appropriately manage inventory dwelling time.
- Continuously evaluate and improve inventory management and supply planning processes and tools.
- Analyze and communicate build-stock needs based on production capacity and strategic priorities.
- Lead regular communications with cross-functional teams to discuss product availability, risks of shortages, back-in-stock estimates, root causes, and prevention strategies.
- Present detailed supply outlooks including days on hand, service levels, working capital projections, and manufacturing performance over an 18-month horizon to leadership and stakeholders.
- Support new product innovation projects by providing supply forecasts and necessary setups.
- Gather inputs from operational areas that impact supply planning.
- Lead budgeting and target setting activities for supply planning.
- Optimize meeting cadence and content for coordination with Manufacturing and other operations functions.
- Manage weekly production review meetings with manufacturing partners and coordinate quality assurance to expedite product releases.
- Conduct monthly production and business planning reviews to support organizational alignment.
- Oversee smooth transitions between supply planners related to major sourcing changes or projects.
- Develop the supply planning network by contributing to cross-business unit meetings, sharing best practices, and enhancing company-wide planning capabilities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred or equivalent significant relevant planning experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in supply chain roles.
- Experience with SAP APO or OMP systems is advantageous.
- Knowledge of foreign trade is a plus.
- Prior leadership experience in demand & supply planning, supply chain development, procurement, logistics, customer service, sales & marketing, or finance preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Proven problem-solving capabilities and decision-making skills.
- Technical proficiency in supply planning tools and ERP software, particularly SAP and OMP; advanced Excel skills including formulas, data analysis, and modeling.
Compensation and Benefits
The estimated salary range for this position is $110000 to $125000 annually. Compensation varies depending on candidate qualifications and location. Nestlé offers performance-based incentives and a comprehensive benefits package including a 401(k) plan with company match, healthcare coverage, and additional wellness benefits.
Additional Information
This role is remote, with preference given to candidates residing in the Tri-State area (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut), Arlington, VA, or Solon, OH. Visa sponsorship is not provided for this position.
