Position Overview

The Specialist, Communications role is a full-time, 35-hour weekly position based anywhere in Canada. This position plays a crucial cross-functional role in designing and executing communication strategies aligned with the needs of the MS community. The role supports staff and volunteers in promoting public awareness, enhancing the organization's reputation, and increasing community involvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the enhancement and monthly distribution of a nationwide e-newsletter through collaboration with portfolio leads and marketing and communications teams.
• Develop and implement comprehensive communications plans and tactics in partnership with staff and volunteers, ensuring messaging aligns with organizational goals and resonates with audiences across channels.
• Provide writing, editing, and messaging guidance to support communication initiatives, maintaining brand consistency and audience focus.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 1 to 3 years of experience in communications, marketing, media, or public relations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative approach and ability to engage diverse audiences within the MS community.
• Experience in planning and executing communications campaigns and tactics.
• Proven ability in writing and managing email communications or e-newsletters for large audiences, including content creation, review, approval, and performance evaluation.
• Skilled in writing and editing materials for both internal and external stakeholders, such as speaking notes, messaging, and community-facing content.
• Strong project management capabilities, adept at juggling multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and guiding projects from conception through execution.
• Familiarity with Marketing Cloud or similar email marketing tools is an advantage.
• Experience within nonprofit, fundraising, or event sectors is preferred.
• Willingness to occasionally work weekends or evenings and travel within Canada.
