Spatial Science Officer

Opportunity Overview

This is a permanent full-time role based in a favorable location on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. The successful candidate will participate in one of the department's largest transport infrastructure initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver expert GIS, cartography, and spatial data consultancy services to both clients and management regarding transport infrastructure projects.
• Gather, process, interpret, maintain, and validate geospatial datasets and related databases.
• Compile, analyze, and synthesize spatial information from various systems, creating detailed maps and reports tailored to client needs.
• Manage spatial data acquisition and maintenance for mapping and analysis purposes.
• Convert raw spatial data into GIS and CAD compatible formats.
• Operate the department's GIS software and provide support to users of GIS technology within the department.
• Advance department-wide GIS strategic initiatives by contributing expertise on geospatial technologies.
• Deliver specialized mapping and GIS services, ensuring high-quality project outcomes.
• Improve understanding and application of departmental policies, standards, and procedures.
• Represent the regional team in meetings and forums related to spatial sciences as necessary.

Mandatory Qualifications and Conditions

• Possess a tertiary degree in spatial science or an equivalent qualification.
• Hold a current 'C' class driver's licence.
