About the Role

We are looking for a motivated Software Engineer II to join our Test Infrastructure team, focusing on Developer Productivity and Test Platform Engineering.
This team enables engineers to efficiently create, execute, analyze, and manage automated tests. Key objectives involve expanding testing capabilities, maintaining testing frameworks, optimizing test orchestration, improving post-execution reporting, ensuring robustness and performance of CI pipelines, and integrating AI solutions to boost developer efficiency. You'll help promote best test automation practices organization-wide.
Responsibilities
- Oversee, enhance, and sustain integration and end-to-end test automation frameworks and their CI pipelines.
- Develop technical strategies to improve test execution speeds and increase test reliability.
- Create technical specifications and architectural decision records; collaborate cross-functionally on solution designs.
- Assist engineering teams with troubleshooting and share best practices for quality assurance and test automation.
- Contribute to shaping the overall test strategy within the company.
- Work closely with technical leads and managers to break down projects into tasks, deliverable in phases, ensuring on-time completion.
- Participate in an on-call rotation as part of team responsibilities.
Requirements
- Residency on the East Coast to coordinate smoothly with European colleagues.
- At least 3 years of experience in test automation.
- Proficient in TypeScript and Python programming languages.
- Practical experience with Playwright and Pytest frameworks.
- Expertise in building and refining CI pipelines.
- Familiarity with Docker containerization and AWS cloud services.
- Strong foundation in quality assurance principles, test design, and comprehensive understanding of testing methodologies.
- Superior communication skills, adept in asynchronous methods such as technical specifications, RFCs, wikis, and planning documents.
- Experience in developing or enhancing test automation frameworks and infrastructure preferred.
- Additional experience in mobile, infrastructure, and performance test automation is a big plus.
- Commitment to continuous learning and growth.
- Demonstrated ability to design clear, maintainable, well-tested code that addresses complex business scenarios and spans multiple software components.
- A proactive approach to personal development, seeking feedback regularly from peers, managers, and stakeholders.
Compensation and Location
This is a remote position available exclusively to candidates located in select Canadian provinces: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan. The annual base salary range is CAD 133,000 to 183,000, with new employees typically starting near the range's lower end.
A comprehensive total compensation package complements the base pay, including monthly health, wellness, and technology stipends, plus benefits such as fully subsidized medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their dependents. Equity rewards through the parent company Affirm Holdings, Inc. may also be available.
