About the Role
Patties Food Group, a company renowned for producing some of Australia's most beloved food brands, is seeking a proactive Production Shift Supervisor to join their manufacturing facility in Pakenham, Victoria. This role is ideal for someone who thrives working hands-on on the factory floor, directly supporting production operators, solving operational challenges swiftly, and ensuring the smooth, safe running of day-to-day manufacturing processes during the day shift (7am to 3:06pm, Monday to Friday).
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily production operations on the production floor during the day shift.
- Provide continuous hands-on guidance and support to production operators throughout the shift.
- Promptly address and solve production issues to minimise downtime.
- Track and assist in meeting production key performance indicators such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), waste reduction, downtime minimization, and adherence to production schedules.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, quality assurance, and Good Manufacturing Practices within the production area.
- Coach team members on standard operating procedures and safe working methods.
- Coordinate with Maintenance for both scheduled preventative and urgent reactive maintenance tasks.
- Identify and implement opportunities for waste reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Support training, employee onboarding, and capability development initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Production Shift Manager on operational management and personnel issues.
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience in roles such as Production Supervisor, Leading Hand, or equivalent within FMCG or food manufacturing sectors.
- Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing operations, food safety standards, and quality management systems.
- Proficiency with ERP systems, Manufacturing Unit Validation (MUV) management, Microsoft Excel, and other computer technologies.
- Experience working in production environments operating on shift schedules.
- A problem-solving mindset with a drive for continuous process improvements.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles.
- Confidence and ability to coach, support, and motivate production staff.
- Strong organizational skills enabling prioritization of multiple competing tasks.
- Excellent communication skills fostering positive workplace relationships.
