Job Overview
We are looking for a Technical Lead specializing in Resilience Engineering to spearhead our chaos engineering initiatives within hybrid infrastructure environments in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role entails shaping and executing the chaos engineering strategy while mentoring teams to embed resilience in engineering workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and oversee the comprehensive chaos engineering strategy and roadmap.
- Architect complex multi-layer chaos experiments across infrastructure, network, and applications.
- Provide mentorship to engineers on resilience and chaos engineering methodologies.
- Establish standardized frameworks for automated chaos testing.
- Advocate and drive resilience practices adoption throughout engineering departments.
- Collaborate with architects to integrate resilience principles into system designs.
- Define Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and error budgets reflecting reliability targets.
- Organize and lead failure simulation exercises and game days.
- Enhance observability practices and maturity across systems.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- At least 7 years' experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, or Platform Engineering roles.
- Demonstrated expertise in Chaos Engineering, including design of custom chaos platforms or frameworks.
- Strong programming skills, particularly in Python or Go.
- In-depth knowledge of on-premises systems and distributed systems architecture.
- Experience with networking concepts and failure injection strategies.
- Leadership in observability techniques including metrics, tracing, and logging, especially in hybrid (on-prem plus cloud) environments.
- Ability to influence and guide cross-functional teams towards resilience-focused engineering cultures.
- Define and enforce engineering standards and best practices promoting reliability.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Experience handling large-scale enterprise-grade systems.
- Familiarity with compliance, disaster recovery (DR), and business continuity planning (BCP).
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes chaos testing.
