Overview
We are looking for a Senior Python AWS Developer to remotely design, build, and support scalable, secure, and efficient cloud-based applications. This contract role, based in Toronto, ON, is initially for one year with a possibility of extension. The role focuses on backend development, API design, serverless solutions, microservices architecture, and leveraging AWS technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable and secure Python-based applications utilizing AWS cloud services.
- Create and improve cloud-native apps through AWS components including Lambda, EC2, S3, API Gateway, RDS, DynamoDB, and CloudWatch.
- Design RESTful APIs and backend services using Python frameworks like Flask, FastAPI, or Django.
- Build serverless and microservices architectures aligned with business needs.
- Work closely with architects, business analysts, developers, and other stakeholders to deliver scalable cloud solutions.
- Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines using AWS DevOps and best deployment standards.
- Monitor system performance, diagnose production issues, and optimize AWS resource usage.
- Ensure application security by enforcing AWS best practices including IAM management, encryption, and compliance.
- Participate actively in code reviews and Agile software development processes.
- Document technical designs, deployment procedures, and best practices clearly.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Extensive experience with Python programming.
- Proficiency in AWS services: Lambda, EC2, S3, API Gateway, RDS, DynamoDB, and CloudWatch.
- Experience building RESTful APIs using frameworks such as Flask, FastAPI, or Django.
- Familiarity designing and implementing microservices architectures.
- Hands-on knowledge of serverless applications.
- Experience containerizing applications with Docker.
- Strong Git version control skills.
- Competence in creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of DevOps principles and practices.
- Knowledge of AWS security, including IAM policies, encryption methods, and cloud compliance.
- Experience working in Agile and Scrum environments.
- Good analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Kubernetes, specifically AWS EKS.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
- Familiarity with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or AWS CodePipeline for CI/CD automation.
- Experience with message queuing and caching technologies such as Redis, RabbitMQ, or Kafka.
- Knowledge of automated test frameworks, particularly PyTest.
- Background working with large-scale enterprise cloud applications.
