Role Overview

We seek a seasoned Senior Project Manager to oversee the end-to-end delivery of multiple civil projects. This role demands strong commercial insight, leadership in managing project teams, nurturing client relationships, driving business expansion, and ensuring projects are completed safely, profitably, and to exceptional standards. The candidate will also mentor teams and contribute to the growth of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and execution of multiple civil construction projects simultaneously.
  • Manage budgets, forecast cash flow, develop procurement strategies, and control costs.
  • Guarantee project delivery meets safety, schedule, budget, and contractual obligations.
  • Supervise project scheduling and manage critical paths.
  • Identify project risks and deploy mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure superior project outcomes through strategic planning and leadership.
  • Handle subcontractor agreements and supplier contracts.
  • Prepare and negotiate contract variations, extensions of time, payment claims, and other correspondence.
  • Monitor financial performance and profitability of projects.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and resolve contractual disputes.
  • Mentor and guide Project Managers, Engineers, and Supervisors to cultivate a high-performance culture.
  • Facilitate collaboration and conduct project reviews and performance assessments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and key stakeholders.
  • Represent the company at client meetings and progress reviews.
  • Identify opportunities for repeat business and new projects.
  • Support tendering processes and contribute to business development initiatives.
  • Champion safety commitments and ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Promote environmental sustainability and ensure compliance with all legislative and contractual requirements.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • At least 10 years of experience leading major civil infrastructure projects.
  • Proven management of projects with budgets exceeding $10 million.
  • Deep understanding of Australian Standard construction contracts.
  • Strong skills in commercial and contractual management.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • High financial literacy encompassing budgeting and profitability.
  • Valid Australian Driver's Licence.

Desired Skills and Certifications

  • Experience in data centres, industrial, transport infrastructure, or defence sectors.
  • Familiarity with Design & Construct and construct-only contracts.
  • Knowledge of Security of Payment legislation.
  • Proficiency in project management software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
  • Professional engineering accreditations such as Chartered Engineer (CPEng) or RPEQ.
