Job Overview
This position assists the Head of Section in overseeing engineering operations connected to the design, development, coordination, execution, and governance of projects. All activities must align with the company’s strategic objectives and commitments. The role places strong emphasis on delivering technical leadership, solving complex problems, making informed decisions, and analyzing engineering portfolios by employing innovative and analytical approaches.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Instrument & Automation in orchestrating multidisciplinary engineering tasks to meet project goals, EPCC contract stipulations, and procedural standards.
- Monitor and communicate the status of engineering outputs, spotlight any deviations, and facilitate corrective actions.
- Ensure resolution of technical challenges promptly and aid in applying design modifications and field technical notes.
- Evaluate technical documents such as datasheets, drawings, specifications, and vendor submissions from EPCC contractors.
- Contribute to reviewing and approving project protocols and engineering specifications.
- Engage in kickoff meetings with subcontractors to clarify technical scope, quality standards, and timelines.
- Review and endorse subcontractors' fabrication schedules.
- Collaborate with QA/QC on inspection and expediting tasks at vendor and subcontractor locations.
- Coordinate with construction teams to guarantee correct installation of equipment and systems per engineering deliverables.
- Participate in on-site inspections to affirm adherence to technical specs and quality benchmarks.
- Prepare systems for upcoming pre-commissioning and commissioning stages.
- Track engineering deliverables corresponding with the commissioning schedule and report progress deviations.
- Work closely with EPCC contractors and internal groups to ensure timely completion of engineering inputs critical for commissioning.
- Assist in training and technical preparedness of company teams for commissioning and startup operations.
- Manage engineering interface coordination between internal departments (Operations, Maintenance, Projects, Procurement) and EPCC contractors.
- Support the Interface Team by reviewing spare parts, assessing tie-in readiness, and resolving interface-related challenges.
- Ensure engineering outputs align with interface milestones and meet regulatory authority demands.
- Maintain proper documentation, traceability, and conformity with EPCC contract requirements.
- Participate in multidisciplinary reviews including HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, QRA, and 3D model assessments, ensuring action items are closed.
- Contribute to identifying and monitoring engineering-related risks and updating the project risk register accordingly.
- Ensure that all engineering activities adhere to Environmental Impact Assessment requirements, health, safety, and environmental standards along with quality control mandates.
- Report any discrepancies and assist in developing mitigation plans in collaboration with the Head of Engineering.
- Supervise design and configuration of control systems such as DCS, SIS, PLCs, and SCADA.
- Review control philosophies, system architecture, wiring and logic diagrams, and interface requirements thoroughly.
- Facilitate integration of automation solutions with plant operations and safety frameworks.
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and commissioning of automation systems ensuring cybersecurity and system reliability standards are achieved.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field is mandatory.
- At least 10 years of hands-on, pertinent experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical sectors.
