Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to spearhead the mechanical design and development of hardware supporting our multi-agent AI platforms. Responsibilities include conceptualizing, designing, modeling, and documenting detailed mechanical assemblies. The role demands close coordination with software, electronics, and product teams to optimize design functionality and manufacturability. The engineer will also perform analyses on engineering parameters, select appropriate materials and components, and collaborate with manufacturers to balance performance, reliability, and cost efficiency. Providing peer design reviews, mentoring colleagues, and participating in the enhancement of design standards and workflows are key aspects of this position.
Qualifications
- Solid expertise in mechanical engineering principles covering general mechanical and machine design.
- Advanced skills in design engineering and product design for intricate mechanical systems and components.
- Proficiency in CAD software for 3D modeling, drafting, and comprehensive design documentation.
- Capability to convert functional specifications into durable mechanical structures suitable for production.
- Experience conducting engineering calculations and analyses related to tolerances, stress, thermal factors, and material selection.
- Hands-on experience with prototype development cycles, testing phases, and iterative design refinement within a product setting.
- Excellent collaboration and communication aptitudes for effective teamwork across disciplines.
- Possession of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines, supplemented by prior senior or leadership design engineering roles.
- Familiarity with design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA) methods and supplier interactions is beneficial.
- An interest or background in AI, robotics, or intelligent hardware systems would be advantageous.
Additional Information
This position is based in the Greater Sydney Area and requires working onsite with some flexibility for remote work. The role emphasizes practical contributions to mechanical design supporting advanced AI-driven hardware solutions, demanding a combination of technical mastery and collaborative innovation.
