Currently, the group is expanding its footprint across the GCC, targeting larger and more complex contracts while boosting its commercial and operational capabilities to support this growth.

Role Overview

We seek a commercially savvy and strategic leader to join our leadership team as Senior Commercial Manager. This position transcends traditional back-office commercial roles, requiring a business leader who will promote growth, enhance commercial operations, safeguard contractual interests, and cultivate a modern commercial function primarily based in Riyadh and Bahrain. The role entails significant influence on major commercial decisions, leading high-stake negotiations, enhancing project profitability, mentoring teams, and supporting future expansion throughout the GCC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the group's commercial strategy across Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, aligning with organizational growth objectives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Chairman and Managing Director on commercial risks and contractual matters.
  • Establish and grow a modern, high-performing commercial team fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous development.
  • Mentor commercial personnel including Quantity Surveyors and project teams.
  • Oversee all major commercial and contractual activities from tendering through project completion, including contract reviews, risk assessments, negotiation strategies, and dispute resolution.
  • Ensure effective management of variations, claims, extensions of time, final accounts, payment recovery, and commercial correspondence.
  • Provide strategic guidance on complex contractual issues, particularly relating to FIDIC and customized contracts.
  • Collaborate with Project Directors to optimize project profitability and commercial outcomes by enhancing cost reporting, forecasting, and productivity tracking.
  • Support procurement and subcontract strategies to ensure commercial alignment and risk mitigation.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for value engineering, commercial optimization, and improved operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to strategic tender evaluations, bid decisions, and lead commercial input in negotiations and pre-contract discussions.
  • Enhance commercial systems, reporting, controls, and processes to advance data-driven management and performance monitoring across the group.
  • Promote best practice commercial operations throughout all business units.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Law, or similar disciplines.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the construction or infrastructure industry.
  • Demonstrated senior commercial leadership experience within the GCC region.
  • Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts, claims administration, commercial strategy, and final account negotiations.
  • Background managing large-scale building and infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Commercially strategic mindset with strong business acumen and operational insight.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in Saudi Arabia and/or Bahrain.
  • Proven track record in building or enhancing commercial teams and systems.
  • Familiarity with large industrial, infrastructure, or utilities projects.
  • Professional accreditation such as MRICS or MSc in Construction Law.
  • Fluent in both Arabic and English, including written and spoken proficiency.

Why Join Poullaides Group?

  • Join the leadership team with direct involvement in shaping business strategy.
  • Lead significant commercial transformation and improvement efforts.
  • Engage in landmark projects across Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
  • Mentor and develop future commercial professionals.
  • Play a vital role in guiding the company’s growth throughout the GCC.
