The Bodmin facility in St. Merryn specialises in beef and lamb processing and packaging, delivering a variety of beef products from retail-ready butcher cuts to branded packaged meats. These are sourced locally, from open pasture farms, and carefully selected by skilled butchers to ensure superior quality and integrity.

Job Purpose

The Security Guard role is designed to uphold a safe and protected environment for both customers and employees by securing premises and personnel through vigilant monitoring and patrolling.

Main Duties

• Patrol and oversee the property to protect premises and personnel
• Monitor surveillance equipment to ensure ongoing security
• Inspect buildings, equipment, and access points for potential threats or irregularities
• Authorize and control entry into the premises
• Activate alarms and seek assistance when necessary
• Report unusual incidents or security breaches and inform offenders about policies
• Restrict trespassing and prevent damage or loss
• Manage traffic flow by directing vehicles on-site
• Document observations, incidents, and witness accounts thoroughly
• Maintain building and equipment controls for optimal environmental safety
• Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements to protect the company’s reputation
• Collaborate effectively to achieve team objectives

Working Conditions

This position provides cover during holidays and sickness absences, requiring flexibility in scheduling. Due to the site’s location and limited public transportation to Bodmin, applicants must have their own transportation.

Qualifications and Experience

• Registered Security Officer with valid credentials
• Prior experience working as a security guard or officer
• Familiarity with legal standards for security and public safety
• Advanced observational and surveillance skills with proficiency in surveillance technology
• SIA approved training is preferred
• Level 2 Health and Safety certification is desirable
