About the Role
This position is for a General Science teacher handling Classes III to V under the CBSE curriculum in Mumbai. The focus is on building early scientific curiosity, observation, and basic concept clarity through practical, activity-oriented teaching.

What You’ll Teach and Do
- Teach General Science and Environmental Studies to primary learners in Classes III, IV, and V as per CBSE expectations.
- Help students understand core topics such as plants, animals, the human body, food, water, air, matter, the environment, and natural events.
- Encourage scientific thinking through observation, questioning, exploration, and experimentation.
- Link classroom concepts to everyday life so children can understand them more easily.
- Plan and deliver lessons that follow the school calendar and curriculum targets.
- Create worksheets, activity sheets, diagrams, and project-based tasks.
- Use experiments, demonstrations, charts, models, and multimedia to make lessons engaging.
- Adapt teaching methods to suit different learning levels in the class.
- Conduct simple hands-on activities, nature walks, and awareness tasks related to the environment.
- Strengthen students’ skills in observing, comparing, classifying, reasoning, and understanding cause and effect.
- Set and evaluate formative and summative assessments such as tests, quizzes, worksheets, and projects.
- Prepare competency-based questions and keep records of student progress.
- Maintain a safe, disciplined, and interactive classroom environment.
- Assign and guide science projects, chart-making, diagrams, and working models.
- Support students who need extra help and also challenge advanced learners with enrichment tasks.
- Stay in touch with parents about student progress and participate in PTMs.
- Use smart boards, digital resources, simulations, animations, and other technology tools where useful.
- Handle routine academic documentation such as attendance, lesson plans, assessment data, and teaching materials.
- Work with the Primary Coordinator, attend staff meetings and trainings, and help build science resources and question banks.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Science is required; specialisations such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or General Science are acceptable.
- B.Ed. in Primary or Elementary Education is preferred, and may be mandatory depending on school norms.
- D.El.Ed. or TTC will be considered an added advantage.
- Prior experience of 2 to 5 years in CBSE schools is preferred.
- Experience teaching Science or EVS at the primary level is expected.
- Freshers with strong subject knowledge and teaching ability may also be considered.
- Strong command of basic science concepts and the ability to explain them simply to young children is essential.
- Teaching should be interactive, practical, and age-appropriate.
- Good classroom management, clear English communication, and a student-friendly approach are important.
- The ideal candidate should be patient, creative, collaborative, and enthusiastic about science education.
Eligibility
Candidates with a B.Sc. in Microbiology, Physics, Zoology, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Life Science, Mathematics, or combinations involving Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, and Science may apply.
Additional Information
This role is for teaching primary section students and includes both classroom teaching and academic support responsibilities. The school expects the teacher to contribute to student development, parent communication, and co-curricular science activities such as exhibitions, competitions, and project work.
