Research Specialist - Remote Contract Position

Position Overview

Mercor, a San Francisco-based company connecting top creative and technical talents with leading AI research institutions, is seeking a Research Specialist to join their team remotely. This contract role offers between $50 and $60 hourly compensation for a commitment of 10 to 20 hours per week.

Primary Responsibilities

• Formulate rigorous research questions, responses, and evaluation content to support training of advanced language models.
• Conduct evaluations and optimize AI model performance by applying structured research methods and thorough analysis.
• Operate collaboratively yet independently in an asynchronous manner to achieve project targets within flexible working hours.
• Collect, synthesize, and concisely summarize information from multiple sources to enrich AI training datasets.
• Deliver clear and organized feedback to AI development teams aimed at enhancing the quality of training data.

Qualifications and Skills

• Ownership of a Macbook equipped with an M-series processor is mandatory.
• Either currently engaged in, or recently completed, a Master’s degree; alternatively, 2 to 3 years of directly relevant experience coupled with a Bachelor’s degree from a reputable institution.
• Proven capabilities in comprehensive online research and effective written communication.
• Strength in gathering and distilling information from a wide variety of sources into clear summaries.
• Exceptional proficiency in writing and articulating ideas clearly in text.
• Interdisciplinary educational background is advantageous but not required.
