Registrar - Oncology

Position Overview

Bon Secours Health System in Cork, County Cork is seeking a full-time Registrar specializing in Oncology. This role is within the Care Home sector and offers negotiable competitive compensation.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate fully in patient care services such as history and physical examinations, detailed note-taking, and completing patient records in compliance with JCI standards.
• Evaluate all diagnostic investigations including radiology, laboratory tests, microbiology, pathology, and hematology results.
• Lead formal case presentations of new patients during clinical rounds.
• Pre-round discussions with consultants to review cases.
• Present inpatient cases as appropriate during rounds.
• Manage acute admissions directly to the Oncology unit or supervise the senior house officer (SHO) on duty.
• Conduct independent ward rounds without consultant supervision.
• Oversee follow-ups on lab, x-ray, and scan results requested during rounds.
• Ensure ongoing monitoring and care of critically ill patients.
• Develop and implement palliative and hospice care plans for patients.
• Collaborate closely with oncology liaison nurses and specialist nursing staff.
• Write detailed admission notes for new patients or review SHOs' admission documentation.
• Utilize pre-printed chemotherapy orders and document complete chemotherapy orders under consultant oncologist guidance.
