Role overview
Dorset Police, working in partnership with Devon and Cornwall Police, is looking for a Regional Digital Forensic Gatekeeper to strengthen the existing team and improve resilience. This specialist post sits within South West Forensics and supports data extraction work across Devon and Cornwall, Dorset, Avon and Somerset, and Wiltshire Police.
The postholder will report to the Digital Forensics Operations Managers and will act as the specialist quality-check point for every digital forensic exhibit submitted. The purpose of the role is to improve the standard of submissions and make sure they meet legislative, forensic science, ICO, and GDPR standards.
Clear communication is essential, as the role involves working closely with police officers and senior investigating officers.
Working pattern and location
This is a permanent role with a hybrid working arrangement. It is primarily remote, with occasional in-person attendance required for quarterly management meetings within the South West Forensic area covering Wiltshire, Avon and Somerset, Dorset, and Devon and Cornwall. The role is based in Dorset, England, United Kingdom, and remote working can be carried out from any force.
The standard working week is 37 hours, but applications from candidates seeking part-time hours are also welcomed. Flexible working patterns will be considered depending on business requirements. A second working pattern is also noted for this post: 22 hours per week, worked on Wednesdays and Fridays, plus a third flexible day to be agreed with Dorset Police / D&C Police.
Pay and benefits
Salary starts at £40,383 per year and rises by annual increments to £44,700 per year. The package also includes excellent benefits and access to a government pension.
