Railway Protection Expert

Role Overview

The Railway Protection Expert is tasked with ensuring the security of railway infrastructure, specifically supporting the Riyadh Metro. This involves full execution of railway protection frameworks, coordinating with various stakeholders, reviewing construction activity by third parties, and identifying plus mitigating risks that could affect railway operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and oversee the railway protection framework effectively across operations.
• Engage and coordinate with Operations & Maintenance Contractors and third-party contractors applying for necessary No Objection Certificates.
• Ensure that third parties submit complete and compliant documentation related to NOCs.
• Review and validate the conditions of NOCs issued by contractors, ensuring appropriateness and accuracy.
• Assess construction plans presented by third parties, identifying risks to railway infrastructure.
• Provide technical advice and suggest mitigation strategies to safeguard metro operations.
• Monitor routine patrols to detect unauthorized activities within the railway protection zones.
• Report any breaches and ensure follow-up measures are taken to uphold railway security.
• Maintain and distribute updated engineering and as-built documentation to all relevant contractors.
• Conduct onsite inspections to determine the nature of work within the protection zone.

Qualifications & Experience

• At least 10 years of experience in construction or infrastructure-related projects.
• Technical proficiency in structural, civil, MEP (mechanical, electrical & plumbing), and geotechnical engineering disciplines.
• Experience with metro or railway operations focusing on safety procedures.
• Ability to critically review method statements, risk assessments, engineering drawings, and other technical documents.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and coordination capabilities.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.
