Role purpose

This position is responsible for keeping continuous radio contact with road staff, organising schedules, and maintaining a daily record of operational activity and client interactions.

Key duties

  • Keep two-way radio and telephone contact with vehicles so their location and activity are known at all times.
  • Ensure that crews use the correct communication codes during all radio transmissions.
  • Make sure vehicle crews understand emergency procedures and follow them correctly.
  • Prepare and maintain an exact daily log of all vehicles and third-party movements, including blind radio spot notes, no-service receipt numbers, standby cases, operational reminders, missed agreed schedules, and unscheduled work.
  • Contact the client to confirm when a no-service was required and communicated to the crews.
  • Brief incoming road crews on the details of their schedules so they can work efficiently, courteously, and safely.
  • Keep all emergency contact numbers for the branch area readily available.

Requirements

  • Grade 10.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • PDP, where required by the branch.
  • PSIRA Grade C plus CIT.
  • Firearm competency for handgun.
  • Formal CIT training.
  • Experience in the police or military, or at least 2 years’ experience in the CIT field.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Customer service focus and the ability to work with others.
