Division Insight

The Advisory and Programme Delivery unit (APD) provides management services across sectors such as Built Environment, Defence, Energy, Water, Transportation, and Health & Education. The Ireland APD team is growing, adding professionals including Project/Programme Managers, Planners, Commercial Managers, and Quantity Surveyors across Belfast, Dublin, Cork, and Galway.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor, the Quantity Surveyor will contribute to commercial management on clean water, wastewater, and environmental projects. Collaborating within a core team under the ENW Portfolio and wider advisory groups, this role focuses on delivering projects to meet client expectations regarding timeline, cost, quality, and safety. Responsibilities include innovating service delivery, advising teams and clients, managing risks and opportunities, stakeholder engagement, and ensuring project governance.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing commercial aspects of one or multiple projects.
• Overseeing budgets including monthly reporting of actual costs, variances, accruals, and annual figures.
• Monitoring and reporting project risks.
• Resolving or preventing disputes.
• Providing strategic commercial advice.
• Reviewing and recommending subcontractor approvals.
• Evaluating compensation events and monthly payment claims.
• Conducting commercial audits.
• Mentoring junior team members.

Candidate Profile

Desirable qualifications and experience:

• Chartered Quantity Surveyor accreditation (MRICS) or actively pursuing chartered status with commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
• Experience in cost planning, preferably within cost consultancy or multidisciplinary environments.
• Familiarity with contract administration, cost estimating, and NEC contracts.
• Relevant background in water, environmental, and regulated sectors.

Essential attributes:

• Degree qualification preferred.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong communication skills, including report writing and presentations.
• Capability to build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, colleagues, and supply chain partners.
• Flexible work approach and readiness to travel to client sites and other company offices.
