Role Purpose
The Quality Engineer role focuses on guaranteeing the dependability, uptime, and overall reliability of production applications and platforms. This is achieved through thorough test planning, execution, and development of automated testing tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Devote approximately 80% of time to test automation and 20% to manual exploratory testing.
- Collaborate with Product Owners and developers to ensure test plans align with requirements.
- Design, code, test, and debug sophisticated software solutions.
- Create, execute, and maintain automated test suites for team-developed features.
- Guide the team towards simple, test-friendly designs.
- Exhibit strong understanding of software development best practices.
- Assist in onboarding and mentoring new or junior team members.
- Engage in risk assessment activities related to software quality.
- Participate in sprint meetings including reviews, retrospectives, and planning.
- Work closely with developers to detect and resolve defects early via feature walkthroughs.
- Contribute towards achieving sprint objectives.
- Report and escalate defects following established protocols.
- Help specify, configure, and maintain testing environments.
- Write and maintain testing documentation and knowledge base articles.
- Promote testability considerations during sprint planning with knowledge of testing frameworks and tools.
- Collaborate with senior colleagues to deepen technical and product understanding.
- Identify and pursue relevant training opportunities.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Between 2 to 5 years of practical coding experience in software development.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- ISTQB certification is required.
- Proficiency in programming and coding skills.
- Experience using test automation tools effectively.
- Strong analytical abilities to identify and solve problems.
- Good understanding of the product and its business context.
- Knowledge of business aspects connected to the application under test.
