Role Purpose
The QA/QC Engineer assigned to Category III projects acts as the primary quality liaison among the EPC Contractor, company project teams, and involved subcontractors. This role oversees quality assurance and control throughout detail engineering, procurement, and construction phases and up to the final project handover. It includes reviewing EPC deliverables, coordinating third-party inspections, and ensuring compliance with project quality standards.
Main Responsibilities
- Understand and promote the company’s QA/QC standards and compliance requirements.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among project stakeholders and EPC contractors.
- Evaluate project scope to plan quality verification measures appropriately.
- Lead and take part in quality inspections and verification activities.
- Organize quality team meetings and report QA/QC metrics to project management.
- Review contractors' quality documents, such as PQP, PEP, ITP, WPS, WQT, Criticality Assessments, and related procedures, ensuring they meet company quality benchmarks.
- Conduct Pre-Inspection meetings to ensure quality expectations are understood and applied before work starts.
- Coordinate inspection processes on-site and in workshops, allocating company inspection resources effectively.
- Work closely with offshore QA/QC personnel to confirm repair work follows approved procedures, specifications, and methodologies.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Certified CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector and NDT Level II (RT, UT, MT, PT/DP).
- ISO 9001:2015 Internal/Lead Auditor with rich experience in QA/QC and Quality Management System audits.
- More than 10 years of experience in oil & gas sectors, including offshore brownfield/greenfield projects, LNG plants, maintenance, and shutdown operations.
- At least 5 years focused on inspection, testing, and certification of MOVs, SDVs, DBB valves, actuators, and gearboxes.
- Thorough understanding of valve production, assembly, testing (functional and pressure), and source inspection.
- Experienced in assessing Inspection Test Plans, QA/QC procedures, NDE protocols, and testing documentation.
- Well-versed in industry standards such as API 6D, API 598, API 6DX, ASME B31.3, AWS D1.1, and ASME Section IX.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical, welding, structural, electrical, and instrumentation QA/QC procedures.
