Job description
Company Overview
An established organization specializing in Exploration & Production (E & P) within the oil and gas sector is seeking an experienced professional to join their team in Nigeria.
Role Overview and Activities
The role involves managing project performance through risk-based strategies. Key tasks include serving as the representative of Project Performance Management (PPM) in all coordination efforts between major projects and other internal entities. This requires reviewing planning and progress across various work programs, including drilling and field operations.
- Act as the central liaison for aligning priorities with departments such as Quality Assurance, Engineering, Health, Safety & Environment, Contracts & Procurement, Field Operations, Drilling, and Technical Logging.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to address challenges impacting timely execution during early project phases to ensure successful outcomes.
- Monitor project developments and issues arising from coordination meetings and proactively propose mitigation strategies.
- Identify project-related risks and recommend mitigating and recovery solutions.
- Develop and implement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to project risks.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and establish contingency plans.
- Assist project managers in executing risk management frameworks effectively.
- Maintain detailed documentation covering risk management activities and results.
- Track and report on risk exposure and risk reduction trends using qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Provide support for internal and external audits, Project Joint Committee (PJC) reviews, quality assurance/quality control processes, and improvements in methodologies.
Regarding performance management, the role involves leveraging tools like the Project Definition Rating Index (PDRI) from PR2 to identify milestones and lead times within contracts or scope change notices, ensuring KPIs integrate risk and opportunity considerations. The specialist will utilize data-driven risk assessment insights to shape strategies that impact schedules, costs, and profit margins. Proactive identification of emerging threats with continual lookahead analysis is key along with balancing risk-taking to meet long-term goals and expedite decision-making.
Additional responsibilities include supporting projects with resources and process improvements, collecting and sharing lessons learned focused on Nigerian projects, benchmarking with associated technical units and committees, and fostering better cooperation with local contractors across projects.
Accountabilities
The specialist will guarantee that project teams maximize the benefits of prior FEED/CFT analysis outputs, including Project Review 2, qualifications, PDRI, and CSRA, by creating and updating project action plans for review.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering is mandatory.
- Strong familiarity with MS Office Suite, SAP, Primavera P6 (including Monte Carlo simulations), and Safran software tools.
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in technical roles across onshore, offshore, and deep offshore oil and gas operations is required.
- Additional credentials such as PMBOK, PMP certification, Kaizen, or Lean Management belts will be advantageous.
