About the Role

This position involves managing a diverse array of concurrent construction and infrastructure projects, ranging from heritage restorations and minor upgrades to advanced laboratory and accommodation refurbishments.

Responsibilities

In your capacity as Project Manager or Senior Project Manager, you will be the primary client-side lead responsible for the full project lifecycle, representing the University with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and leadership. Your duties will include leading planning, procurement, design coordination, governance, risk and quality management, cost control, and scheduling to ensure projects meet institutional priorities and deliver tangible benefits.

Senior Project Manager Specific Responsibilities

• Lead complex projects from inception to completion, managing all delivery facets.
• Formulate adaptable delivery and procurement strategies in response to evolving priorities.
• Drive stakeholder alignment and influence outcomes at senior levels.
• Mentor and build capability within the project team.
• Maintain a proven record of successful capital works project management involving diverse stakeholders.

Project Manager Specific Responsibilities

• Manage small to medium-sized projects end-to-end.
• Execute flexible project plans including scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and stakeholder engagement.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams fostering collaboration and development.
• Demonstrate experience in delivering capital works within construction and engineering environments.

About the Division

The Property & Campus Development Division oversees the University's physical infrastructure and property. The division's mission is to provide value through the distinct character and function of University spaces, supporting the wider community.

Additional Details

• Position is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, permanent and based in Dunedin (Ōtepoti).
• Appointment as Project Manager or Senior Project Manager depends on qualifications and experience.
• Salary ranges are:
  • Project Manager: NZD 96,587 to 105,532, with a top salary of 114,474.
  • Senior Project Manager: NZD 107,320 to 115,834, with a top salary of 124,348.
• Candidates must have legal rights to live and work in New Zealand.
