Our client is a prominent energy firm specializing in the development, ownership, and operation of battery energy storage systems (BESS) aimed at mitigating grid fluctuations and boosting system resilience. The company manages hundreds of megawatt-hours of storage capacity in ERCOT and has an expansive multi-gigawatt-hour project development pipeline spanning over ten states. Role Summary
This position is for an Associate in Project Finance who will support various financing initiatives across a growing portfolio of large-scale utility energy assets. The role entails deep involvement in analyzing, structuring, and executing project financing transactions in collaboration with internal teams and external financial partners. It is tailored for a detail-oriented, motivated finance professional eager to advance expertise in renewable energy project finance within a rapidly expanding platform.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in structuring and executing debt, tax equity, and structured equity financings.
- Conduct financial modeling, transaction structuring, and valuation analysis.
- Prepare comprehensive financing documents including lender presentations, investment memoranda, and internal approvals.
- Coordinate due diligence with lenders, investors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
- Organize and review transaction documentation and facilitate closing processes.
- Perform economic analyses, sensitivity tests, and return evaluations at the project level.
- Maintain and update project finance models during transaction execution phases.
- Liaise with development, legal, accounting, engineering, and asset management teams to support financing activities.
- Support assessment of acquisition and development prospects.
- Research trends in financing, capital markets activities, and sector developments.
Qualifications
- Two to four years’ experience in renewable energy project finance, investment banking, structured finance, infrastructure investing, private equity, or closely related areas.
- Strong skills in financial modeling and quantitative analysis.
- Experience in supporting project finance or mergers and acquisitions transactions preferred.
- Familiarity with renewable energy markets and financing models is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical capabilities along with adept problem-solving skills.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
- Capable of juggling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment effectively.
- Superior written and oral communication talents.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint software.
