Role Overview
The Production Manager at McKenzie Craft is responsible for overseeing workflow on the manufacturing floor to guarantee that the creation of new millwork products aligns with schedules, project specifications, and complies with stringent quality standards. This position is crucial in driving the efficient and timely production of superior-quality millwork items through expertise in process management, quality assurance, and team leadership.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and execute production schedules by considering customer demands, material availability, and factory capacity.
- Lead and manage a team of millwork artisans, machine operators, and production staff, including providing necessary training and feedback to boost workforce skill and efficiency.
- Ensure continuous product quality by monitoring millwork outputs at all stages, enforcing quality control protocols, and swiftly resolving quality-related concerns.
- Collaborate with procurement to secure timely delivery of raw materials, hardware, and other supplies, managing inventories to cut waste and avoid production hold-ups.
- Continuously improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and minimize waste by applying best practices and innovation initiatives.
- Control production expenses by monitoring costs and maintaining budgets without sacrificing quality benchmarks.
- Enforce strict adherence to safety standards and regulations within the production environment, fostering a culture centered on workplace safety.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, designers, estimators, and installation teams to understand project goals and align production scheduling with project deadlines.
- Manage maintenance and repair of machinery to ensure operational readiness and limit production downtime.
- Maintain detailed production documentation including quality control records, scheduling logs, and inventory reports.

- Comprehensive knowledge of production processes, product details, service protocols, and procedural systems.
- Committed to delivering error-free work that complies with company policies, emphasizing high-quality customer deliverables.
Educational and Professional Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a relevant field, or equivalent experience and education combination.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet tools.
- In-depth understanding of architectural millwork and casework production techniques and fabrication methods.
- Experience managing submittal documentation processes, including reviewing architectural and shop drawings, resolving layout conflicts via RFIs, coordinating appliances and equipment, and managing mockup samples.
