Product Owner - Microsoft Dynamics 365

About the Role

Our client, a reputable company based in Waikato, New Zealand, is seeking an experienced Product Owner for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This pivotal role involves driving the evolution and continuous enhancement of a comprehensive Microsoft ecosystem, encompassing business process improvements, ERP functions, integrations, data platforms, and reporting frameworks.

Collaborating closely with both business leaders and technical teams, the successful candidate will provide leadership in product ownership for Microsoft Dynamics 365 and adjacent technologies, ensuring functionality aligns with and supports strategic business goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the subject matter expert on business processes enabled through Microsoft Dynamics 365 and connected platforms, including Parts, Wholegoods, Supply Chain Management, Service, Warranty, Retail, and Finance.
• Develop, maintain, and align the product roadmap with organizational objectives, Microsoft release cycles, enterprise architecture, and ongoing improvement projects.
• Identify and prioritize enhancement opportunities by analyzing business benefits, risks, dependencies, and projected outcomes.
• Conduct workshops and engage stakeholders to capture requirements, identify process gaps, and unify alignment across departments.
• Maintain current documentation and nurture strong relationships with business stakeholders regarding requirements, priorities, and processes.
• Evaluate the full impact of proposed changes on ERP platforms, downstream apps, integrations, reporting tools, and support processes.
• Collaborate with business and technical teams to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions across ERP, integrations, reporting, and custom applications.
• Offer product ownership and functional leadership over Dynamics 365, Azure services, Power Platform, Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Power BI, SQL-based solutions, and API integrations.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven track record as a Product Owner, Senior Business Analyst, Functional Lead, or ERP Product Specialist in a complex enterprise environment.
• Extensive knowledge of wholesale, distribution, supply chain, service, warranty, retail, and finance business processes.
• Strong experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP platforms and their functionalities.
• Competence in ERP integrations, including APIs, OData, data entities, and understanding downstream system dependencies.
• Expertise in business process mapping, requirements gathering, and functional solution design.
• Confidence in communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication skills.
• Capability to assess business value, delivery challenges, risks, and prioritize trade-offs effectively.
• Strong analytical, documentation, problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and impact evaluation.
