About the Role

Verra Mobility seeks a dedicated Product Manager passionate about uncovering customer challenges, validating market opportunities, and steering cross-disciplinary teams to achieve tangible business results. This role centers on backoffice solutions involving cloud data processing, shaping product strategy, roadmap development, and overseeing the lifecycle of Verra Mobility's premier systems.

Collaborate with leaders from product, operations, engineering, IT, and sales to foster innovation and harness cutting-edge technologies that deliver superior backoffice systems aligned with organizational goals. You will blend technology insight with innovative leadership to shape both legacy and future backoffice offerings, ensuring alignment with customer needs.

Core Responsibilities

  • Own customer problem discovery by engaging directly through interviews, data analysis, and ride-alongs to validate pain points and assess potential solutions before development.
  • Clearly articulate customer and business challenges, ensuring team focus on impactful tasks.
  • Develop and maintain a prioritized roadmap emphasizing measurable business outcomes rather than just features.
  • Balance user requirements, business goals, and technical feasibility with sound judgement and product expertise.
  • Collaborate early with Legal, Compliance, and Operations to design feasible solutions.
  • Make decisive prioritization calls throughout the product lifecycle and document rationales and results.
  • Work in close partnership with technical and design leads to deliver user-centric and technically sound solutions.
  • Author concise outcome-oriented briefs and acceptance criteria focused on the underlying problem and success measures.
  • Utilize AI tools to enhance discovery, documentation, and delivery processes.
  • Share knowledge and contribute to the evolution of product practices within the team.
  • Understand how products impact revenue, retention, and operational efficiencies for customers.
  • Support go-to-market efforts by informing pricing, positioning, and launch readiness alongside commercial teams.
  • Define and monitor success metrics that connect customer benefits with business performance.
  • Serve as a trusted internal authority for your product area amongst sales, operations, and leadership teams.

Candidate Profile

  • 3 to 7 years of product management experience demonstrating ownership of outcomes.
  • Proven expertise in leading customer discovery and leveraging both qualitative and quantitative data for product decisions.
  • Experience working effectively within cross-functional teams alongside engineering and design members.
  • Background in regulated or complex domains such as automotive, fleet management, payments, fintech, or comparable sectors, with ability to assimilate new knowledge quickly.
  • Comfortable contributing to organizations transitioning their product operating model.
  • Active use of AI tools to boost productivity in discovery, documentation, research, prototyping, and delivery.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly tailor messages and construct coherent product narratives.
  • Strong critical thinking with preference for evidence over opinion.
  • Preferred experience includes familiarity with transportation/smart mobility industries, road safety knowledge, usage of product management platforms (e.g., Aha!, Azure DevOps, JIRA), and collaboration with compliance or regulatory stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.

Success Indicators

  • Comprehensive understanding of assigned product areas through direct customer and stakeholder engagement.
  • Established validated, outcome-driven roadmaps embraced and executable by your team.
  • Consistent progress in shipping, learning, and adapting confidently.
  • Trusted partnerships enabling influence without direct authority to align engineering, design, commercial, and operational groups.
  • Clear evidence of customer benefits, including reduced process friction, improved product adoption, or measurable efficiency improvements.

Logistics and Additional Information

  • Primary work location preference: Mesa, AZ headquarters or New York City office, though remote candidates willing to travel occasionally will be considered.
  • Minimal travel required, mainly for team offsite events and customer interactions.
  • Reports directly to the Director of Product.

Company Values

  • Own It: Commit to high performance, accountability, continual alignment, customer focus, and innovation.
  • Do What's Right: Demonstrate integrity, ethical behavior, good judgment, and courage.
  • Choose Courage Over Comfort: Address challenging conversations and prioritize progress over ease.
  • Win Together: Foster collaboration, value diversity, think globally, create engaging environments, and support personal growth.

Privacy and Equal Opportunity

Candidate personal data will be retained only for the recruitment purpose and for no more than two years post-process closure or for related opportunities. Verra Mobility is an Equal Opportunity Employer, providing fair consideration regardless of race, religion, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, or protected veteran status.
