Role Overview

We seek a passionate Product Designer who embraces the challenge of envisioning software that feels timeless and intuitive—akin to the precision of German cameras, the delight of Japanese toys, and the universal appeal of Coca-Cola. This position is based in San Francisco or New York City, with mandatory in-person attendance on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, designated as Anchor Days, to foster team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Conceptualize product designs that equally weigh vision, quality, efficiency, and commercial viability.
• Detail and refine new features from inception through to pixel-perfect user experience delivery.
• Lead projects collaboratively with engineers to realize the product vision through launch.
• Collaborate with Customer Experience, Sales, and Customer Success teams to gather user insights that shape product planning and prioritization.
• Work alongside Marketing to develop compelling narratives across product lifecycle stages and various communication channels.
• Innovate intuitive, practical design patterns and progressively evolve Notion’s design system to support scalability.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum five years of comprehensive product design experience managing projects end-to-end.
• Strong customer empathy to identify and advocate for the most effective user experiences.
• Exceptional skill in clarifying complex conceptual problems and designing immediately valuable user flows.
• Expertise in crafting clear, user-friendly, visually compelling interfaces.
• Business acumen to balance aesthetics with practicality and timely delivery.
• Collaborative mindset with openness to feedback and diverse viewpoints to drive optimal decisions.
• Proficient storytelling abilities using visual and verbal communication to align stakeholders.
• Experience working cross-functionally with product management, engineering, research, and design colleagues.

Preferred Skills

• Background designing and launching impactful tools in small, agile teams.
• Diverse perspectives that enrich team innovation.
• Understanding and motivation to resolve challenges from fragmented tools and siloed information.
• Familiarity with computing pioneers such as Douglas Engelbart, Alan Kay, and Bret Victor.
• Ability to code as a complement to design expertise.

Compensation and Benefits

Notion offers highly competitive salary packages, equity options, and comprehensive benefits. The anticipated base salary range for San Francisco-based candidates is $285,000 to $330,000 annually, adjusted based on experience, role complexity, and location.
