Process and Maintenance Technician - PCBA

Role Summary

The Process and Maintenance Technician - PCBA is responsible for maintaining and optimizing equipment and processes used in PCBA production to ensure maximum performance, reliability, and product quality. This involves troubleshooting equipment issues, performing preventive maintenance, supporting equipment installation, and implementing process improvements to minimize downtime and adhere to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on PCBA production machinery including SMT machines, reflow ovens, wave/selective soldering equipment, conveyors, AOI/SPI systems, ICT/FCT stations, and related equipment.
• Implement digital work instructions to support automated maintenance procedures at level 1 on the shop floor.
• Utilize MES tools to facilitate the scheduling of production stops via Maintenance Management Systems (MMS).
• Deploy Industry 4.0 predictive maintenance technologies to anticipate equipment failures.
• Serve as the primary contact for equipment suppliers during serious breakdowns to expedite recovery and remediation.
• Establish and monitor real-time maintenance KPIs such as RTPPM, MTBF, and MTTR leveraging Industry 4.0.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software faults to quickly restore production capabilities.
• Monitor and regulate process parameters within designated limits to maintain quality, performance, and yield standards.
• Rapidly address line stoppages or alerts in coordination with operational teams.
• Perform root cause analysis on recurrent equipment failures and recommend corrective measures for enhanced reliability.
• Support new equipment installation, qualification tests, and minor engineering upgrades.
• Manage and organize spare parts inventory ensuring availability of critical components and liaising with suppliers for support.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections regarding cleanliness, calibration status, wear components, sensor operation, and safety interlocks.
• Collaborate with shift leaders, engineers, quality, and production teams to ensure stable operation and reduce machine downtime.
• Adhere to and promote safety protocols including ESD, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), chemical handling, and environmental compliance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects focused on enhancing equipment reliability and maintenance processes.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in electronics manufacturing, specifically in PCBA process and equipment maintenance.
• Solid background in machine installation, manufacturing processes, and maintenance operations.
• Working knowledge of PLCs, sensors, and automation systems.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting and maintaining SMT and soldering equipment, with familiarity with brands like Panasonic, Nordson, Ersa, Takaya, and Seica.

Technical Skills

• Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic abilities.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics effectively.
• Understanding of ESD safety standards, preventive maintenance planning, and root cause analysis techniques.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
