About the School
Sentinel Kalumbila School is based in Kalumbila, North Western Province, and was founded in October 2014 to provide high-quality education for the local mining community. It was originally commissioned and backed by First Quantum Minerals until it became self-sustaining.
This school is part of a wider network of Sentinel Schools. The other two campuses, Sentinel Kabitaka Primary and Sentinel Kabitaka Secondary, are located in Solwezi. Across the group, teaching follows a combination of the Cambridge International Curriculum and the national curriculum, with public examinations in Year 7 (ECZ), Year 9 (ECZ), and Year 12 (IGCSE).
Sentinel is affiliated with ISASA (Independent Schools of Southern Africa) and ISAZ (International Schools Association of Zambia), and benefits from active collaboration with other schools in the region. The Sentinel group is managed by Educore Services, which also runs the Trident and Frontier school groups as well as Educore Academy, a provider of in-service teacher training and continuing professional development for schools, government, and external partners. The wider Educore family currently includes eight schools.
Role Overview
Educore Services is looking for a qualified, experienced, and enthusiastic school leader to take charge of Sentinel Kalumbila School and guide it into its next stage of growth. The role follows the transition of the previous head into the position of Head of Kalumbila Secondary School, a joint venture between the Ministry of Education and the Educore Foundation. The successful applicant will report to the Executive Head.
The intended start date is 1 September 2026.
Purpose of the Position
Working from the foundation laid by the previous leadership, the new Head will provide clear direction, strong leadership, and strategic vision to support the school’s future goals in a setting with its own distinct needs. The role carries overall accountability for effective teaching, pupil discipline, and the safety and wellbeing of all learners.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants need at least a Bachelor of Education degree, or a bachelor’s degree together with a Post Graduate Teaching Diploma. The ideal candidate will bring senior management experience in a school environment, preferably within a Cambridge curriculum setting, and exposure to a broad range of co-curricular activities.
