Overview
The Portfolio Manager role at Standard Chartered focuses on boosting product and portfolio expansion by designing impactful product programs, enhancing digital sales, and collaborating closely with product and portfolio teams to grow Wealth and Retail Business Banking segments. A key responsibility is promoting retail product growth through digital engagement and targeted marketing campaigns.
Core Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product and Portfolio Managers to create efficient programs supporting Wealth & Retail Banking growth.
- Drive cross-selling of banking products using coordinated campaigns, campaign templates, call scripts, and frontline team engagement.
- Assist Product Managers in increasing net receivables and deposits by spotting opportunities and developing actionable plans.
- Contribute to developing an Affluent Proposition that strengthens wealth solutions and reinforces market leadership.
- Partner with Card Product & Portfolio Managers to develop strong spend programs using data, partnerships, and predictive models.
- Lead execution of the Affluent strategy by managing segment initiatives alongside Client Relationship, Marketing, Compliance, and Risk teams.
- Analyze competitive landscape to identify and engage prospective partners to meet customer needs and accelerate growth.
- Design campaigns to empower frontline teams to exceed targets, monitor campaign results, and share best practices.
- Coordinate with Group and Regional teams to implement digital sales initiatives.
Business & Strategic Functions
- Establish and track digital marketing targets in conjunction with Data & Analytics teams.
- Provide insights on customer behaviors to Segment/Product and Voice & Virtual teams to guide strategy.
- Develop segment offers and integrated campaigns, ensuring timely, budget-compliant execution across multiple digital channels.
- Recommend enhancements to increase audience engagement and optimize targeted product offers.
- Identify and evaluate partnership opportunities aligned with Affluent Banking strategy, including business models, innovation, and market plans.
- Continuously monitor competitor activity and market share.
Process Improvement
- Work with product managers and client experience teams to implement Straight Through Processing for an improved affluent customer experience.
- Identify and propose process improvements to elevate effectiveness and efficiency.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to design, execute, and measure partnership programs and campaigns to boost affluent segment growth.
Leadership & Risk Management
- Demonstrate leadership by cultivating the right culture and values, setting expectations, and collaborating with risk and control partners.
- Provide guidance on reputational and operational risk management, ensuring proactive identification, mitigation, and timely reporting in alignment with Group and local policies.
- Train and coach team members on regulatory, reputational, and ethical risks.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with external and internal regulations covering operations, credit, reputational, and people risks.
- Implement global risk-type policies within the cluster and maintain necessary business policy or country addenda.
- Establish risk assurance processes demonstrating proactive risk management and policy compliance.
- Represent risk-type interests at relevant business and risk committees.
- Communicate risk management responsibilities and process changes across impacted teams.

- Promote strict adherence to laws, regulations, guidelines, and ethical standards.
- Support the Affluent and Wealth team in meeting the Bank's conduct principles for fair client outcomes, effective financial markets, compliance, and positive work environment.

- Embed ethical practices across the organization to foster a culture of compliance and responsibility.

- Degree in finance, banking, accounting, strategic management, or related field.

- Proven experience in digital sales and problem-solving.
