About the Role
Become a vital member of a locally owned and operated pharmacy by supporting the delivery of health, beauty, and convenience services while maintaining a customer-centered approach. This position is essential in assisting with the technical aspects of prescription dispensing and participating actively in the pharmacy's operations and service delivery in line with Pharmacy Standards of Practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome customers promptly and collect prescription information following prescribed standards.
- Perform tasks prioritized according to assigned roles on the Role Assignment Schedule.
- Direct all clinical queries to the pharmacist accordingly.
- Set transparent and practical expectations regarding customer wait times.
- Locate, prepare, and process prescriptions and related products for checkout.
- Refer customers requiring counseling services to the pharmacist.
- Manage and operate the cash register in the dispensary while maintaining confidentiality and privacy standards.
- Receive both new and refill prescription orders adhering to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Handle order preparation and submission excluding controlled substances and narcotics.
- Process third-party billing including online adjudications and manage manual third-party accounts.
- Answer phone calls and route to pharmacists when necessary.
- Manage received faxes in accordance with pharmacy practice standards.
- Assist pharmacists with coordinating customer callbacks.
- Accurately file and maintain completed documentation following pharmacy standards.
- Prepare prescription medications according to company standards and professional guidelines.
- Enter data for new prescriptions and manage refill requests efficiently.
- Select appropriate medications for prescriptions following practice standards.
- Count, measure, package, and label prescriptions accurately.
- Maintain accurate records within pharmacy systems.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of High School Diploma required.
- Diploma from an accredited Pharmacy Assistant program is preferred.
- Previous experience working in a pharmacy setting is advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills with the capability to multitask effectively.
- Problem-solving aptitude with attention to detail.

Salary Information
The hourly wage range for this role is $17.75 to $21.90, with the exact pay determined by experience, knowledge, and geographic location.
