SCI is a dynamic and growing institute that fosters collaboration across over 30 departments from four different Schools at Stanford University, focusing on advancing oncological research and clinical care.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Data Analyst 3 to independently manage and analyze large datasets related to oncology clinical research. This role requires working closely with internal teams and external partners to provide accurate, customized data reports and support clinical research operations. The incumbent will frequently use SQL in Snowflake, OnCore, REDCap, and Tableau to extract, analyze, and present data for publications, presentations, and institutional reporting.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead investigative data analysis projects, generating customized reports, charts, graphs, and tables from structured data sources with interpretive summaries.
• Identify data trends and patterns through qualitative and quantitative methods, recommending new areas for exploration.
• Create impactful reports that clearly communicate key data insights to diverse audiences including senior leadership.
• Build non-standard databases, develop innovative algorithms, and apply advanced statistical models to extract valuable insights.
• Provide expert support for ad-hoc statistical and survey analyses as requested.
• Guide the adoption of data standards and common elements for improved data collection consistency.
• Collaborate with technical teams and external vendors to automate regular reporting, dashboards, and metrics.
• Participate in software testing and approval cycles; may supervise staff involved with program implementation.

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; experience in quantitative fields such as economics, finance, statistics, or engineering preferred.
• At least five years of relevant analytical experience involving complex data management and statistical tools.
• Advanced proficiency with SQL and Snowflake, Tableau Desktop, REDCap, and electronic medical records systems such as Epic.
• Familiarity with clinical trials and NCI’s Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) program.
• Exceptional project management, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to produce clear, actionable data presentations and lead collaborative projects under tight deadlines.

Physical and Work Environment

• Primary work involves desk-based computer tasks requiring sitting for extended periods.
• Occasional activities include light lifting (up to 10 pounds), filing, handwriting, and minor physical movements such as bending and twisting.
• Rare activities include standing, walking, or working overhead.
• Extended work hours may be required during peak periods.
