Role Overview
The NSW Underground Operations Coordinator position is a hands-on leadership role ideal for an experienced individual familiar with the underground coal mining environment. This role combines operational coordination with team leadership and growth management, allowing direct involvement with technical tasks while overseeing daily activities and fostering growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and support full-time and project-based trade labour teams across various underground coal sites in NSW.
- Maintain regular communication with on-site crews to ensure their welfare, retention, and daily requirements are met.
- Develop and sustain robust relationships with mine site representatives, including supervisors and management personnel.
- Identify new business opportunities such as additional sites, expanded scopes, and new roles to enhance the SET team.
- Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and mentoring new tradespeople joining the team.
- Provide hands-on technical support when necessary to aid the team or handle urgent tasks.
- Serve as the primary liaison among mine sites, trade crews, and SET management.
Candidate Profile
- Possession of a trade qualification, preferably electrical with consideration for mechanical trades.
- Current or recent experience working in the NSW underground coal mining sector, with strong familiarity of the environment, sites, and operational standards.
- Excellent coordination and organisational capabilities to manage multiple sites, people, and priorities effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a trustworthy and approachable demeanor valued by both teams and mine management.
- Willingness to perform hands-on technical work when required.
- A proactive growth-oriented mindset, actively seeking and pursuing new opportunities.
- Flexibility to travel between multiple sites across NSW as needed.
- Valid driver's license and up-to-date underground coal mining competencies.
