Role Overview

About the Team
The Connectivity Services team, part of the CITEC Integration and Enabling Technologies business unit under the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business, manages vital network solutions for the Queensland Government. These include the Queensland Government Regional Network (QGRN), Queensland Government Network (QGN), Queensland Ambulance Dispatch Network (ADN), Whole-of-Government ISP, SD-WAN, Cloud Connect, Data Centre Networks, and the CITEC Network Operations Centre (NOC).
The team delivers managed network services, web application firewall (WAF) protection, and inter-department connectivity, with responsibilities spanning operational support, project delivery, design, and consultancy. Operating 24/7, the team uses automated tools and on-call support to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable connectivity for efficient government functions and digital services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical guidance to CITEC’s business community and clients on complex network service matters.
- Lead and contribute to job planning, network design, documentation, and implementation of client communication network services.
- Offer technical and operational insights for solutions addressing both new and existing network infrastructures.
- Conduct incident analysis, manage problem resolution, and oversee change management in operational network environments.
- Support team collaboration by proactively sharing knowledge through informal exchanges, workshops, and thorough documentation.
- Manage, participate in, and coordinate technical projects involving communication network infrastructure design, evaluation, implementation, installation, and upgrades.
- Engage in research projects assessing new and emerging technologies to evaluate their relevance and minimize associated business risks for CITEC services.
- Fulfil on-call duties, perform out-of-hours work, and travel intra- and inter-state as necessary to meet CITEC commitments.
