AltaThera Pharmaceuticals is hiring a Medical Affairs Manager to shape and carry out medical strategy, provide strong scientific guidance, and help ensure all activities remain aligned with regulatory expectations. This position supports awareness and understanding of the company’s science by working closely with teams across sales, marketing, and clinical development, while also keeping external relationships and scientific communication accurate, balanced, and compliant.

Location and travel

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and execute the medical affairs strategy in line with broader business priorities.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the medical field team, while holding them accountable to performance metrics tied to MSL engagement.
  • Work with internal leaders and outside stakeholders to ensure the field medical team addresses healthcare needs through innovation and strong compliance practices.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and healthcare professionals to gather insights and support educational and clinical initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with industry rules, ethics standards, and company policies.
  • Partner with marketing, sales, and R&D teams by contributing scientific and medical expertise to training materials and support resources.
  • Help develop and review SOPs as needed.
  • Work closely with the COO to provide the tools, materials, and resources required for effective scientific exchange by the field teams.
  • Represent the company at conferences, seminars, and other scientific or medical meetings.
  • Supervise Medical Science Liaisons.
  • Support the COO in building, leading, and overseeing a US field medical team for the company’s medicine portfolio.

Required experience and knowledge

  • At least 3 years of prior Medical Affairs experience is required.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in cardiology or electrophysiology is required.
  • Hospital-system experience is required.
  • Pediatric experience is preferred.
  • Applicants should be comfortable working in smaller, entrepreneurial organizations.

  • Strong understanding of treatment guidelines, clinical research, FDA rules, compliance requirements, adverse event reporting, and OIG guidance.

  • Ability to manage and mentor a field-based team.

Education
