Mechanical Static Technician

Job Overview

We are looking to hire a skilled Mechanical Static Technician to join our maintenance department based in Doha, Qatar. This role focuses on maintaining mechanical static equipment through preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance as well as breakdown interventions and diagnostics.

Main Responsibilities

• Conduct maintenance tasks on both process and non-process mechanical static equipment.
• Implement overhauls, troubleshoot issues, and perform corrective, preventive, predictive, and emergency repair work.
• Maintain static equipment including pumps (valves, piping, pipe supports, expansion bellows, fittings), cooling towers (infills, nozzles, basins, fan stacks, GRP structures), tanks (structures, valves, fittings, air vents), air handling units (filters, ducting, housings), filtration systems (filters, housings, piping, fittings), chemical dosing systems (pumps, tanks, pipes, fittings), corrosion racks, sampling, blowdown, and chemical dosing piping systems.
• Oversee and guide work performed by external contractors and vendors.
• Prepare and maintain daily technical logs, checklists, maintenance reports, and all necessary documentation.
• Manage procurement of spare parts, materials, and consumables from inventory or external sources.
• Ensure safe maintenance and use of assigned tools, personal protective equipment (PPE), and spare parts.
• Participate in emergency response activities as needed to maintain business operations.
• Use Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) according to company protocols.
• Support other maintenance teams and disciplines as required.
• Perform routine inspections and small-scale repairs on shared equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, boom/man lifts, and portable generators.
• Supervise contractors during major or complex maintenance jobs including crane maintenance.

Health, Safety, Security, Environment & Quality (HSSEQ) Responsibilities

• Adhere to company safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Take personal and collective responsibility for safety of self, colleagues, contractors, and workplace.
• Identify and report any unsafe actions or hazardous conditions proactively.
• Comply fully with all Permit to Work (PTW) protocols, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and Method Statements.
• Perform Last-Minute Risk Assessments prior to and during tasks.
• Keep all operations within the scope defined by approved PTWs.
• Exercise authority to stop work if unsafe practices or breaches occur.
• Confirm all maintenance requirements are fulfilled before returning equipment to production or distribution.
• Maintain work areas clean, safe, and ready for operation.
• Follow all applicable site and organizational HSSEQ regulations.

Candidate Profile

• Diploma or technical certification in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Maintenance preferred.
• Demonstrated experience maintaining mechanical static equipment.
• Comprehensive knowledge of valves, piping systems, tanks, cooling towers, filtration, fittings, and related static components.
• Experience in industrial, utilities, oil & gas, petrochemical, or similar environments desirable.
• Strong understanding of permit to work systems, job safety analysis, risk assessment, and safe work practices.
• Experience managing contractor and vendor activities.
• Familiarity with CMMS and maintenance documentation systems.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Willingness and ability to respond promptly to emergency maintenance requirements.
