Role Overview

As a Mechanical Designer at Oxygen8, you will specialize in HVAC OEM equipment design, focusing on energy recovery and VRV systems. You will engage in detailed development and refinement of both standard and custom designs, ensuring high standards of precision. Your role also encompasses ownership of continuous improvement efforts to enhance existing products and actively participate in new product introductions within a fast-paced environment.

Key Duties

  • Collaborate across departments including Product Management, ERP, Software Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Application Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations.
  • Create full-scale models and technical drawings for new HVAC products.
  • Participate in product testing and certify equipment as required.
  • Source prototype components and oversee in-house assembly processes.
  • Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and assist ERP teams with Epicor software integration.
  • Support software teams by providing detailed product implementation data.
  • Produce marketing collateral such as brochures, product renders, 3D printed models, and installation operation and maintenance manuals (IO&Ms).
  • Generate sales drawings and submittal documentation to assist sales and application teams.
  • Develop manufacturing documents such as work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Adapt standard units to meet custom project requirements, managing specific BOMs accordingly.
  • Assist operations teams in production builds and drive ongoing product improvements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in HVAC OEM product design.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Skilled in 3D CAD modeling, preferably using SolidWorks, with knowledge of sheet metal design and manufacturing principles.
  • Experience with heat recovery units is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Epicor ERP or similar systems is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Comfortable engaging in hands-on tasks within a manufacturing setting.
