Master Data Analyst

Overview

MatchBox Consulting Group is hiring a Master Data Analyst to help a large supply chain and inventory organization in Calgary. The role centers on building, updating, governing, and improving material master data so that information stays accurate, compliant, and consistent across supply chain, procurement, inventory, and finance functions. The ideal candidate will have practical SAP Material Master experience and a solid grasp of day-to-day supply chain operations.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, update, amend, and deactivate material master records in SAP and connected master data platforms.
• Check incoming master data requests to confirm they meet naming standards, governance rules, and approval workflows.
• Work closely with supply chain, procurement, inventory, and finance teams to ensure data is entered correctly and on time.
• Carry out validation, duplicate detection, audits, and quality checks to protect data accuracy.
• Handle large numbers of master data requests while keeping accuracy high.
• Assist with data cleansing, standardization, deduplication, and ongoing process improvement efforts.
• Create reports and review data to spot trends, issues, and opportunities to improve processes.
• Contribute to User Acceptance Testing (UAT), system upgrades, and improvement initiatives.
• Prepare and keep process guides, training resources, and reference documentation current.
• Help maintain governance compliance through audits, reporting, and adherence to established controls.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of direct experience creating and maintaining SAP Material Master data.
• At least 3 years of experience in Supply Chain, Materials Management, Inventory Management, Procurement, Warehousing, or Operations.
• Strong knowledge of material master governance, data standards, naming conventions, and approval steps.
• Comfort working with high-volume data transactions while maintaining excellent accuracy.
• Strong attention to detail and strong organizational ability.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
• Must be based in Calgary and available to work in a hybrid arrangement.
• Preferred background includes oil & gas, utilities, energy, or heavy industrial environments.
• Experience with WinShuttle, LSMW, or similar master data tools is an asset.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Supply Chain designation or active progress toward one (CPIM, CSCP, SCMP, or equivalent) is preferred.
• SAP S/4HANA experience is preferred.
• Power BI experience is preferred.
• Experience supporting training, end-user support, or process documentation is preferred.
