Role Overview

The Marine Purchaser position, located in London, is a full-time on-site role responsible for overseeing bunker fuel procurement for the company's fleet and customers. The role includes sourcing and assessing bunker suppliers, soliciting and comparing bids, negotiating costs and contract terms, and issuing purchase orders in accordance with operational needs and company policies. Monitoring fluctuations in fuel markets and supply trends, maintaining precise purchasing documentation, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal standards are essential aspects of the job.

This role requires close cooperation with operations, chartering, technical, and finance departments to guarantee prompt bunker deliveries and resolve any supply or paperwork issues. Furthermore, the Marine Purchaser is tasked with cultivating strong supplier relationships, improving cost management, and advancing the efficiency of purchasing processes.

Qualifications and Skills Required

• Proven experience in marine purchasing, shipping, or bunkering functions, with comprehensive knowledge of fuel sourcing processes and maritime logistics.
• Adeptness at negotiating and managing supplier relations to secure advantageous pricing, favorable contract conditions, and dependable supply chains.
• Capability to analyze financial and market information to manage budgets effectively and optimize procurement costs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with procurement or ERP platforms, alongside precise data entry and documentation skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral, coupled with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
• High attention to detail, excellent organizational competence, and the ability to handle multiple purchasing tasks under tight deadlines.
• Knowledge regarding marine fuel varieties, their quality requirements, and industry-specific regulations and compliance is highly advantageous.
• Preferred background includes previous roles in marine or shipping sectors and relevant academic qualifications in maritime studies, business, logistics, or related areas.
